On February 3, 2011, Chinese New Year - Year of the Rabbit will be celebrated by Chinese communities in different parts of the world. Many of the Filipino citizens are asking if the date will be declared as holiday.
Reports said that according to Edwin Lacierda, the Presidential Spokesman of the Malacanang Palace, they will be studying the possibilities of declaring the date as holiday if there is really a need.
As outlined in the Proclamation No. 84 by the Malacanang Palace, Chinese new year (February 3, 2011) is not included in the list of officially declared holidays in the Philippines for 2011.
