Chinese Schools Reject Google Hacking Allegations

Shanghai Jiaotong University and Lanxiang Vocational School said they have no knowledge of any attack perpetrated by their students. The two schools said that the allegations by google are pure speculations. They also denied that they have ties with the Chinese military. Earlier investigators said cyberattacks against Google and other Businesses have been drawn from the two Chinese schools.

The attacks were allegedly aimed at filtering e-mails from Chinese human rights advocates and stealing trade secrets from American companies. However, there is a possibility that the attacks were launched from outside the schools but used IP addresses from the computers inside the campuses.

The allegation is the latest to involve Google and China, which have been at odds over censoring issues. China restricts the information allowed to enter its online domains, a move that Google opposes.
